An innovative and unprecedented new kind of CD release party will occur Saturday June 10 at The Rocket Cat Cafe as area musicians from varying genres will fill the stage and play personal interpretations of tracks from the new album 'Soccer Every Sunday' by electro-pop artists Jupiter Fly-By.
This new format for an album release event marks the birth of the Cybergecko Music label, one that currently represents Jupiter Fly-By, the comedy band Waiting For Cable (also known for the Puppet Karaoke Universe Show and various short films) and Hartaki, a neo-classical synth group with an album due out later this year. A diverse collection of cross-genre talent will play unique live versions of Jupiter Fly-By songs, inspired by the new JFB album, "Soccer Every Sunday". Included in the still-growing lineup of musicians are David E Williams, Mark Oppenlander (from One Alternative), Olivia Neutron Bomb, David Cassanova, Kilroy and more yet to be added over the next two weeks. Jupiter Fly-By is a transatlantic duo comprised of Scottish writer/producer Alex Strang and American musician Har. The album 'Soccer Every Sunday' has been described as "Dolphin-friendly electro-dance-pop with a twist o' weird". The music video for "Bagahangaz", one of the album's tracks, was screened during the 2004 Philadelphia Film Festival. The Rocket Cat Cafe is located on the corner of Frankford Ave and Norris St, in Fishtown and is an increasingly popular destination for live entertainment, good coffee and unique happenings. This Saturday June 10th event begins at 9:00 PM and there will be a $8 cover for the show.
