Independent media star and television personality Elizabeth Fiend will host the Big Puppet Karaoke Tea Party at the M-Room in Philadelphia, July 27th as part of the live show's evolving 'celebrity-host' series.
Elizabeth Fiend, best known as the creator and host of the nationally syndicated 'BiG TeA PaRtY', a long-running home-economics TV series now airing on the Dish Network will be this month's celebrity host of The Puppet Karaoke Universe Show, an ongoing live comedy series where hand puppets perform real karaoke in a late-night bar setting with a heavy dose of audience participation. Elizabeth, a well-known vegetable and fruit lover will ham it up with the regular cast of manipulated characters such as Fruitwa, a low-key fruit-faced collector of classic fire safety posters with a penchant for Sinatra tunes, Mitzil P, an uber-cute kitty-like denizen of Magic Fairy Land with a love of flowers and an exceedingly squeaky voice, and newcomers The Boxy Twins, a duo of sleuthing rectanguloids with matching hats and razor-sharp wit. Elizabeth is an anarchist who loves to give the finger to the man, so you KNOW this will be fun! In addition to the regular cast, anyone from the audience may join the fun by bringing an original puppet character or building one during the show using available craft supplies, then grabbing the microphone to duke it out karaoke-style. Participants may win prizes, awards or even be featured during the show's companion podcast series. Elizabeth Fiend is an avid producer of educational and inspirational videos, a successful writer and motivational speaker, a key member in the psychedelic punk band More Fiends (the only Philadelphia band to record a Peel Session for the BBC Radio in England) and an tireless promoter of good health, environmentalism and community activism, the perfect person to host not just any old karaoke contest, but one featuring puppets! As an artist, Elizabeth's illustrations have appeared in Al Goldsteins Screw Magazine and in Robert Crumbs comic anthology Weirdo. This Renaissance woman has appeared on NBCs The Today Show, the Food Network as a guest on weatherman Al Roker's cooking show 'On the Road With Roker', and has been featured in many other programs and publications. such as the Lonely Planet Travel Guide to Philadelphia, National Geographic Travelers Magazine, The New York Times, The Philadelphia Inquirer and The Chicago Tribune.
