CityPaper's 'Best Of The Fringe Fest' fave Dirty Diamond will strut his salacious stuff September 21st as the lovingly lewd host of the Puppet Karaoke Fringe Freakout Show at the M-Room 15 W Girard Ave, in an all new lecherous edition of the monthly hand puppetshow-cum- karaoke contest extravaganza produced by local comedy presenters Waiting For Cable.
Dirty Diamond (or 'Dirty-D' as the locals coined it) has been praised as the greatest one-man Neil Diamond tribute act that features adults-only lyrical interpretations of classic Diamond songs. For those who love (or hate) the legendary male vocalist, Dirty D promises a rollicking raunchy good time. A self-professed fan of the Silver Spoons TV series and self-proclaimed Greatest Singer That Ever Lived, Dirty D can be heard throughout the region in a parade of non-stop appearances, and on music outlets such as Channel Chaos Radio. The Puppet Karaoke Universe Show has an ongoing monthly engagement at the M-Room in Fishtown, and itself has been the recipient of a CityPaper 'Best Of' award. The unique show combines audience participation with puppet theater, improv comedy and podcasting excitement. The show is produced by Alex Strang and R.S. Purcell, two film and TV professionals who form the comedy collective known as Waiting For Cable. The light-hearted duo is responsible for a variety of short films and live events, featuring such characters as the Oil Slick Gang, The Secret Scare Squad and others. The M-Room is located at 15 W Girard Ave in Fishtown, Philadelphia. The Fringe Freakout show is Thursday, Sep 21st at 9:00 PM. There is a $5 cover and advance tickets are available at http://www.cybergecko.com.
