Tis the Season to strap on a sock puppet, pimp your paper bag and master the microphone as the infamous Puppet Karaoke Universe Show unveils it's year-end extravaganza, the Secret Santa Super Slam, a irreverent holiday-themed interactive comedy event of yuletide proportions. where puppets sing and the audience wins big prizes. This year, the M-Room and other local sponsors will provide prizes, a new Puppet Sound-Off Video-Corner will be featured, and special surprise guests will abound.
The Puppet Karaoke Universe Show is a delicate blend of late night bar karaoke, and wild and wacky puppet show theatre, hosted by Peekaboo Revue favorite, nice-guy David Cassanova and featuring an evolving cast of surreal characters such as Biibom-Biibom, Fruitwa, Mr. Big Boss and Lozar, the Identity-Theft Prevention Monster. Every show in this monthly series includes new characters, ridiculous comedy bits and of course, nonstop audience interaction as guest puppets take the stage and mangle pop songs in their own manner, in a heated competition for prizes. The M-Room and other sponsors are donating fabulous prizes this year to award the best puppet, the best karaoke performance, and best puppet and performance. As always, there will be giveaway items for all participants and plenty of entertainment. In addition, a new Puppet Sound Off Video Corner will debut, where contestants can mouth-off and gesticulate for the camera ala wrestling contenders, throughout the show. The M-Room itself is also debuting a new menu, new bar and a whole new look. Fishtown's newest premiere venue is located at 15 W Girard Ave. Showtime is Thursday, December 15th at 9:30 PM. There is a $4 cover and advance tickets are available online. It is advisable to get space early as seating is limited. |
